SSI Expands REX to Check Questionnaire Quality

October 17 2007

US-based Survey Sampling International (SSI) has expanded its Respondent Experience (REX) function to become a worldwide group overseeing online projects and aiming to ensure both positive respondent experience and robust survey data.

REX, which is part of the firm's Global Panel Solutions group, comprises a team of panel 'experts' who screen client questionnaires to spot potential problems with culture, language, logic and length. VP Debi Hart comments: 'Only a good survey captures good quality data. Consequently, we review everything that touches our community of respondents, including their inquiries, our survey invitations, rewards, and much more.'

The unit's dozen quality controls examine invitations, rewards, 'thank you' links, project setup, project progress, project close, drop rate, incidence, time, and completes. REX checks are conducted on two levels, with the second delving more deeply into design subtleties as seen from the respondent point of view.

Founded in 1977, SSI has an international staff of more than 300, speaking 25 languages. In September, the firm opened a new office in Canada (www.mrweb.com/drno/news7315.htm ) and in March, it launched an online panel in China (www.mrweb.com/drno/news6556.htm ). Web site: www.surveysampling.com.
