German Buy Supports iSuppli's New Service

California-based iSuppli, a provider of electronics industry intelligence, has acquired German market intelligence firm Wicht Technologie Consulting (WTC) for an undisclosed sum.

WTC's Dr Henning WichtFounded in Munich in 2000 by Dr Henning Wicht, WTC specializes in market analysis, business development and strategy planning support for companies in the microelectronics, nanotechnologies and photovoltaics sectors.

iSuppli's President and CEO Derek Lidow says the acquisition has been made specifically to support the launch of his firm's new Photovoltaic service, which will provide data and analysis to help the industry understand the 'fast changing world of solar systems'. The new service will commence in the second quarter.

The German company also has expertise in the area of microelectromechanical systems (MEMS) and sensors, which iSuppli will draw upon to establish a new MEMS service, offering forecasts, market share rankings and analysis of product manufacturing.

Dr Wicht commented: 'Since our foundation, WTC has been able to help numerous companies to realize the potential of photovoltaic technology. Now, we are pleased to bring our data and analyses and match them to iSuppli's global brand and extensive geographic footprint.'

iSuppli provides electronics industry market intelligence through its team of analysts based in its offices in the US, UK, China, Korea, Japan and Taiwan. Last August, the firm appointed David Carnevale as VP Multimedia Content and Distribution, to manage its home, mobile, broadband and digital research programs (www.mrweb.com/drno/news7191.htm ).
