TubeMogul Acquires Illumenix

October 28 2008

In the US, online video analytics firm TubeMogul has acquired video metrics company Illumenix. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Illumenix offers a Flash-based video analytics service to enable video publishers, marketers and advertisers to measure online video audiences and analyze user interaction. In addition, the system can also be used to track how much of a video is watched, what segments are most popular, and when a viewer logs out. It can also provide site-wide statistics such as minutes viewed and viewer behaviour.

TubeMogul's free service provides a single point for uploading and sharing video sites, while its TubeMogul Industry Analysis service offers video producers and networks independent information about video performance on the Internet.

The firm's analytic technology aggregates video-viewing data from multiple sources to uncover when, where and how often videos are watched, measure the impact of marketing campaigns, and gather competitive intelligence.

As part of the deal, Illumenix's employees will move into TubeMogul's Emeryville, California-based offices.

'We are impressed with the Illumenix team,' comments TubeMogul CEO and Co-founder Brett Wilson. 'We have overlapping customers that need both distribution and analytics, and a combined entity will solve both problems.'

Earlier in the year, TubeMogul released a tool to help video creators and publishers predict the number of views their productions will attract.
