New Global Ops Head for Neuromarketing Firm

US-based NeuroFocus has appointed cognitive neurophysiologist Dr John Polich as its Director of Global NeuroLab Operations.

John PolichThe NeuroLabs are standalone neuroelectric testing centers, which perform neurophysiological testing and analysis for use in consumer market research.

For the past 25 years, Polich has worked at The Scripps Research Institute's Molecular and Integrated Neuroscience Department (MIND), and has also taught in the Psychology Department at the University of California, San Diego. Prior to this, he held research positions at the Neuropsychology Laboratory at the Salk Institute, the Neurology Department at the Medical School of the University of California at Irvine, and the Cognitive Psychophysiology Laboratory at the University of Illinois.

Polich, who has a PhD in Cognitive Psychology, is considered to be one of the world's leading authorities on electrical measures of human cognitive functions. He has had more than 200 scientific articles published in major neuroscience journals, and has spoken at dozens of international scientific meetings. His expertise includes P300, a key index of brainwave activity used to measure attention, memory, and emotional neural activity in subjects.

The Berkeley, CA headquartered firm has made this appointment as it prepares to roll out in the US and targets expansion in the UK, France, Italy, Germany, Japan, Korea, India and China.

Last year, Nielsen formed an alliance with NeuroFocus to develop new measurement techniques based on the latest advances in neuroscience.
