More Brains for NeuroFocus

April 16 2009

Neuromarketing company NeuroFocus has named Dr. Michael Smith, previously President of CorTech Labs, as a Partner in its Consulting Practice.

Dr. Smith is known as a pioneering researcher in neuroscience and an expert in the relation of human brain physiology to memory and attention. He holds multiple patents for advanced applications of EEG (electroencephalogram) methods, and has authored more than fifty articles published in leading scientific journals. At CorTech, he guided the market launch of the first FDA-approved software product for quantitative analysis of MRIs (Magnetic Resonance Images) for assessing brain atrophy in Alzheimer's and other neurodegenerative disease patients.

Earlier, he headed up the Cognitive Neuroscience Program at the National Science Foundation, held the position of Principal Neuroscientist at biomedical R&D company SAM Technology, and held academic posts at Texas A&M University, Boston University and the University of California at Irvine.

NeuroFocus CEO Dr. A. K. Pradeep comments: 'Clients expect the best scientific minds and the best brainwave-based market research technologies and methodologies when they come to us, and this addition underscores our commitment to providing that level of world-class quality.'

Neuromarketing is defined as the application of brainwave-based measurements for market research purposes. NeuroFocus, in which The Nielsen Company made a strategic investment just over a year ago, is online at www.neurofocus.com .
